I have PCOS So my period started on Sep 1 ( my last period was in January of this year) but I’m afraid because already it’s sooooooo heavy like SO HEAVY that I had to leave work! I had to change my clothes three times and went through soo many pads is this because I haven’t had a menstrual cycle in a while? Or should o go to the hospital?

      @JanL thank you I wasn’t even aware that I could have a d & c for that!

      This happens to me too. I won’t have my period for a few months, and then I’ll get my period and it’ll either be heavy or last for an abnormally long time (ex: 3 weeks). I went to the doctor and they gave me medications to stop the bleeding.

      Your period can definitely be heavy if you missed months bc your uterine lining has thickened from not bleeding regularly. This increases your risk for uterin cancer. Go to a good obgyn. She can give you meds to force you to bleed each month or I highly recommend an IUD. You may benefit from an ultrasound to see how much thickening u have. They can do a D and C to clean it out. There are so many things to try.

      Your period shouldn't be significantly heavier just because it hasn't happened in a while. If its concerning you and/or you are bleeding through a maxi pad in an hour or less than you should for sure go to the hospital

      Girl go to the hospital to be safe. Could be nothing but better safe than sorry!
