I have a question. I understand that it is necessary to disclose our diagnosis before having sexual contact with someone. But what if I wanted to have a one night stand with someone from a bar? Even if Condoms are used I just don't understand how I explain to someone I meet at a bar and who I'll sleep with just once that I have herpes. It just feels like my life is completely altered. I've had it for years but I'm turning 21 in a couple months and I feel like I won't be able to have fun on my birthday because I'll have to possibly tell a guy from a bar I have herpes😓 And I really doubt there would still be an interest after that.

I have had this for 30 years. I got it from a boyfriend who was a junkie. I didn't know that at the time. He may have even lied about his name. I got pregnant also. I had an abortion, which I am not proud of, but it is serious. No more one night stands. I was not told before we had entercourse, so why the he'll would I cause someone else that pain. I could not live with that. I have given birth to 3 children who didn't get the disease.

I’ve had it for 5 years and have disclosed quite a few times now. It’s really scary and every one won’t say yes but most will. In my experience sometimes people say yes right away and sometimes people need time to think about it wether it be for a few minutes or days. It’s tough but you should disclose. When I do I just say it as it is and won’t try to when I have an out break. Be ready to answer questions and be honest but don’t say it in a way that sounds like it’s the worst thing you could ever get. Good luck
