I have been diagnosed with bipolor 2 and DID. I hate when the psychologists say "let me know when you start to feel normal." What does Normal feel like? Does anyone seriously know or face this same issue?

I was on track to be a clinical social worker and the biggest thing they taught us in university was to never use the word "normal" because there is no such thing as normal. Instead I would advise to find your midpoint between elation and depression. An equilibrium basically and instead focus on that point and getting to know what that feels like instead. I would also recommend getting a new therapist/psychologist if they're asking if you feel normal.

I've never had them say this exact thing to me, but you can always tell the sentiment is there. There's this expectation that if you take the right pill or something, that everything will all go away. No more symptoms, no more switching, no more mood swings, nothing. And it's so frustrating that they always focus on you "being normal again" (if you ever were in the first place) and not just learning how to live and manage it.
