has anyone been in a situation where a person who isnt familiar with self harm asks about your self harm scars/marks? an older coworker saw my scars and asked what they were from and how painful they looked. i panicked and said it was from "my cat". it puts me in an awkward position and idk what say :x

this happens to me with my younger siblings:( when i wear shorts / skirts or even just t-shirts and they see my scars they’re always curious. (theyre 5 & 3) i always try to either avoid it or brush it off as ‘nothing’ because theyre too young to understand:( however its super awkward.

Yes. All the time, it’s happened countless times & it’s even worse when they’re fresh scars as well. It’s difficult to make an excuse ESPECIALLY if I catch them glancing at my scars before asking.
