Two days ago the litter of dogs that I will pick my service dog from were born. I have to wait 12 weeks before I can pick the right one and take it home but it’s a step in the right direction. I’m just nervous none of the puppies will be the right temperament (not too shy, not too aggressive, etc).

That's wonderful you've trained your cat! I hope that your training with your new companion goes well 😊 I'm applying on Monday for a charity in my area who have dogs ready! Fingers crossed they have the right dog for me too. It's always a bit of a risk!

That's exciting! And a little nerve wracking understandably. I think dogs really are a reflection of their trainer but also trying to avoid the runt of the pack could be helpful and making sure the pups are with their mums for long enough. Have you gone through an organisation who are providing your dog? I've struggled to find any organisations in the UK who are accepting applications.

@mthebrave All the organizations near me have several year long waits for already trained ones so I just went on AKC and looked for someone who did Embark, AKC, hips eyes elbows heart the whole thing. I’m gonna be training it myself though because where I live the only dog trainer is Petsmart and they’re not very good at it. I’ve trained my cats to do tricks like knocking to be let in, asking to be pet, stand, etc so I have the basics of training down and I assume a dog is easier than a cat although I won’t know until I get it I suppose!

It’s always a tough gamble when you don’t go the program route. My guy is a rescue pup and a handful and a half. Good luck and feel free to dm me for support or just puppy pics.
