Hello! My name is Matt and my main issue is my IBS. It’s only been 2 years since I was diagnosed, so I’m still learning about how to cope with it. I just had a really bad flare up (IBS-C) and I’m really physically and emotionally exhausted. :( Anyone have any tips for recovering after a really taxing flare up?

I understand completely wear you have been, be easy on yourself and rest if you can. Also replenish yourself with electrolytes like Gatorade if possible.

Hey! I have IBD-C and IBS. For me, it’s really important to not rush back to exercise, and not rush into stressful task completion. Things will get done, and you have to let yourself watch some things slip off the radar for a while (which, I know, is hard). Also finding a comfort food that doesn’t irritate you and weaving that a little bit into each day gives you something fun and kind to your body as you recover. ❤️

I had a horrible flare up that landed me in the ER because I genuinely thought I was dying. A lot of stuff happened in the ER that also made it even more exhausting. You should try to rest as much as you can. Lay in bed and relax. Don’t do stressful things, just relax. Eat very plain foods like rice, unseasoned chicken (only salt and/or pepper), crackers and things like that. Slowly introduce foods back into your diet. Stay safe!!🤍
Take it easy! don’t push yourself, a flare up is very exhausting you can’t expect things to be 100%. Slowly introduce foods back into your diet, keep a journal or something on how you’re feeling physically and mentally. If you’re able to maybe get some supplies that’ll ease any discomfort you don’t have already. Heating pad, teas, a weighted blanket. Remember you’re doing the best you can
