Hiiii!! I've learned that I use disassociation a LOT to get away from stressful and uncomfortable situations. Self soothing, like rubbing my arms or giving myself a hug helps me ground myself when I'm overwhelmed, and same with pushing my back into my chair and pressing my feet into the ground to feel pressure so I remember I have a physical body.
I need to get off my phone more often cause I think that's the main thing causing stress, but I use stuff like YouTube to disassociate and I watch funny videos as a form of socialization (aaand yeah that's not healthy 😅)
Little crafts like crocheting, doing a good-ol hello kitty coloring book with big crayons and markers, or just daydreaming while laying down on the grass outside. I need to give my brain more space to float around so I can acknowledge my feelings and thoughts 😇
Hi! My dms are open if you wanna talk more. I think the treatment and coping mechanisms that have helped most have been medical weed, learning how to fake an appropriate level of eye contact, and access to more types of stims/toys that are more appropriate for a variety of situations so I can regulate more frequently.
I also frequently focus on the mouth, I need to read lips a lot to understand the conversation anyways, but I usually use the trick where you focus on the center of the forehead or bridge of the nose. I learned that when I was a young kid and adapted to it really quickly so even when I can make eye contact with someone it's obvious that I don't do it. I have found a lot of people are more uncomfortable if I focus on a facial feature that I'm drawn to than just their forehead, I'm wondering if that's just a gender divided issue? Or maybe cultural?
Hi I hope you are doing okay im a Autism and it was very difficult I just posted a little about it if you want to check that out but I hope you are doing better and if not I hope you do in the future 😇
