hello everyone, I hope you guys are having a great day or evening. I have a question; I am flying this week and I haven't flown in maybe 4 years. I am so worried that I'll have a panic or anxiety attack on the flight. Do any of you experience this? if so, what did you do or take to help fight that? just thinking about my husband and I flying has been making my anxiety & panic attacks flair up 😵 (I never had issues flying before my anxiety or panic attacks) any ideas will help, thanks guys! ❤️

@Meliss thank you so much❤️ I ending up taking just one and OMG life saver!!! After about 8 hours though, I did feel it wearing off. Unfortunately we were on our second flight by that time, so I had to make myself go to sleep with an eye mask (that seem to help!)
@Ewok so glad it helped! What dose ?

Have you tried body scan exercises? They help you focus on every part of your body and become aware of every function going on. Helps ground me pretty often. I could help you find some other types of you're interested!
@Azyul oh that's interesting, I've never heard of that. Yeah I'd be interested in learning how to do that

my Dr just told me to take Lorazepam (Ativan) for severe anxiety and wants me to do a trial run to see how I do. Did you have any side effects? I just read up on it some and oh gosh, worried now to take it lol.
If you'd like to try a non drug related route, you could try grounding exercises. During attacks, it's helpful for me to do these exercises. There are plenty of guided ones online and they help you realize that you're here, breathing, and perfectly fine.
@Azyul what ones work best for you? I've tried a few, but didn't help much 😑
If you didn’t want to take and benzodiazepines then Propranolol which is a beta blocker is also used to help calm nerves without the sedating effects of benzos.

@Mattman hmmm I'll look into that. And ask my Dr ❤️
If I were you I’d check and see if your airport supports the sunflower lanyard. Some airports offer them for free for guests who are flying and they’re basically used to let people who work for the airlines know that you have a hidden disability and you may need help or get overwhelmed easily. It’s worth looking into, I know they’re very common in the UK but the US is slowly starting to adopt it as well 💗
@Whoopsiebee I love this idea!!! I will research the airport if they have this, thank you! That is so helpful for ppl.
I only fly with lorazepam! Helps so much. .25 mg sometimes .5. Good luck!
@Meliss is this a Rx I'll have to ask from my Dr? Thank you so much ❤️
@Ewok yes! It took me years to be okay w taking it. It’s such a tiny does it does not knock you out it just takes the edge off and makes you a little drowsy! ♥️
