Lately I am cramping like Charlie horse cramps everywhere. Last appt my potassium was 3.4 which is right on the edge of being low. I get these cramps in my stomach, shoulders, calves, feet, and hands. She has me on a daily dose of potassium so I don't know what else could be causing it. It's stressful. If I move the wrong way bending my stomach cramps up, or the top of my shoulder! Any thoughts?

My heart palpitations come from inflammation. I have severe inflammation from untreated Slipping Rib Syndrome. The palps are worse when I sit down because the ribs are more compressed. Newly diagnosed.

Hello. I have low potassium too, but since I have a lot of health problems is difficult to tell what low potassiumlsium causes to the body. Can anyone explain to me please what symptoms can it cause, please??
@Kuselkuqja My symptoms were alot of numbness in my limbs and the most severe fatigue I have ever experienced. I had this dull ache in the center of my chest right at the base of my heart and TERRIBLE palpitations. My heart rate would be even more elevated than normal and pound so hard. I had bad tremors and I could not tolerate heat or cold at all! I don't know if this is related but I could not sleep either, but that could have been from fear and anxiety from how bad my body was feeling, I truly thought my days were numbered. That's just how bad it feels đ„â€ïž

@Healforhealth I have the same symptoms too but I have arthritis and my impression was that all my symptoms come from arthritis but I was wrong. I don't think sleeping is related to potassium because I sleep well.
Well darn she didn't check! Okay I will ask her! Thanks đâșïž
awesome thanks! I'll try that when I take them next. I will check my magnesium right quick and see what it was.
hi! have you had your magnesium checked? potassium and magnesium work hand and hand in the body. sometimes if youâre low in mag then your body wonât absorb the potassium supplements as effectively. also, if youâre able to take the potassium supplements with foods/drinks that naturally have higher potassium in them, your body has a better chance of absorbing it! i recommend bananas (or baby food bananas) and/or orange juice! of course check with your doctor but my nephrologist has me attempt 8 oz of orange juice if tolerable daily. this gets you an extra 10 meqs of potassium and even better if you take the potassium supplement with it. hope that helps!

@chronically_katie I second this comment!! My potassium stayed super low. I almost needed IV potassium because my levels were on the edge of critically low. No mater what I ate or how much potassium I took, I could not keep my potassium up with in normal ranges. I started seeing a Functional Doctor and she did a hair test to check my nutrients and minerals at the cellular level. It turned out that I had NO MAGNESIUM!! Once I started taking Mag every day for a few months, my potassium slowly got better and better. I took a Cal-Mag-Zinc supplement, and the amount per day I took and am currently taking is 600mg a day of Mag. If you don't have adequate levels of Mag in your body, you won't be able to hold onto potassium. It's awful!! I no longer have issues with my potassium. Thank goodness! Please please add some Mag to your daily routine. It can't hurt and might be just what you need to help with your cramping. Hope this helps and best of luck to you! đ€
