CW/TW: Underweight, detailed discussion of weight I'm very anxious right now and confused. I am very skinny, and I've been working with my doctors for years to get to the normal weight for my height. I had already lost weight during a depression and went down to 88 lbs. I was trying to gain after my doctor brought it up, and got to 94 lbs. I got sick last weak and lost my appetite, and dropped to 90 lbs. For the past 3 days, I've been eating normally again, 2-4 meals a day. Yesterday in particular I had a lot of bread and meat, and returned to the same servings I used to eat. But I checked my weight today and I'm somehow down to 88.6 lbs again. I'm extremely anxious and frustrated, not to mention confused. Is there anything at all to help me?? I have never reached past 98 lbs before but I've also never experienced this either.

@Taylor128 I actually did have tests run on me a couple years ago. Blood work and a stomach x ray, and nothing came of it, they couldn't diagnose me with anything. Perfect thyroid and cholesterol and no celiac disease. But now I'm eatingnnormally again and still losing weight.

Since it looks like you are eating a normal diet right now, it might be worth it to ask your doctor about testing for Celiac Disease. I lost about 40 pounds within 3 months when the symptoms began to affect me and have been unable to gain most of the weight back. Celiac is an autoimmune disease indicating your body can't process gluten, and if that's the case gluten has essentially damaged the cilia of the intestines too much for normal absorption of nutrients. A gluten-free diet is the only way I can begin to gain weight and it takes several weeks to months to heal the damage enough for healthy weight gain to start.

@benjieckert late response but I was actually tested for celiac disease a couple years ago and I don't have it. It's very odd.

I struggled with my weight for a few years too. I couldn't gain weight for the life of me. Alot of it was due to depression & medication that would make me not have an appetite. Then after a few yesrs of struggling with it, i found out I had Hep c. Once i got cured- it helped depression and anxiety alot and i got my appetite back. Have you asked your doctor to give you blood work to see if there is an underlying issue that could be causing you to not be able to gain and keep weight? If not, you should . Also, maybe you could add some meal replacement drinks and /or set yourself up a schedule for eating then even if you dont feel like eating- force yourself. I know it is much easier said than done but after so many days of having a schedule, it will be eaiser for you do eat because your subconscious mind will have gotten use to it.

I wish I had an answer for you. I've also struggled with my weight for my whole life and have never exceeded 95lbs. Personally I've been extra aware of how I feel when eating, idk if you struggle with eating until full like I do but I found that trying to notice why I have such a hard time eating made me discover that I have some texture issues and such. But if you don't really find that your brain is the cause it could be something more physical, I hope you figure it out though regardless
