I have opioid med for lower back pain but it barely touches my neck and it wears out in the middle of night. I'm suffering so much, need an increase in dosage but the primary doesn't care

@RedWhimsy have you tried going to a pain management clinic, that's how I'm receiving my pain medication oh, and it gets me through my day

@bugsy so I guess I'm kind of stuck.
@bugsy I get the pain meds from my primary. It's not enough, but it's better than nothing. Our pain management here just takes everyone off their meds and tells them to do "mindfulness" or "aromatherapy"... I'm serious. A kindhearted nurse told me to steer clear of them

I have been seeing a physical therapist for vertigo and he discovered really tight muscles in my neck. He recommended he do dry needling in the muscles of my neck to help release some of the tension I had light soreness the next day, but it helped a lot.

It gets worse when I lay down
š„did your pain go away in your neck when you lay down?
And if you think it's tension, I think you should do some neck exercises and stretches along with a heating pad
I have degenerative disks also. The doctors say that if the injections work any bit, even if for a day, then they've found the problem. I did the nerve burning on the left side of my cervical spine. It takes two to three weeks for the nerves to die. I go back in another week to get the right side done

What are your thoughts?
The weird thing about mine is it completely goes away when I lay down. My dr. Said I have degenerative disk in my c-7. He told me to get injections. Not cortisone, I tried those they did not work. I did not get the injectionsā¦I feel itās tension causing the pain.
I'm 52. I once had a shooting pain in my neck and in the back of my head. It was like lightning. It startled me and I stayed in the same position, without moving, for about ten minutes. It was like an electric shock. Since then I've been offered different medications, therapy, Botox, surgery, blah blah blah. The doctor said that I do need surgery eventually because of the herniated discs. I want to put it off as much as I can.
Did something happen to make pain start?
That is when mine started. Can I ask your age? What did your pain feel like?
I sure will let you know. I'm ready for some healing. I'm so tired of the pain. I've been having this pain since 2016.
Thank you for telling me this. I am very interested in hearing how much relief you get.
That procedure that I had is called radiofrequency ablation
Okay, so, I had the nerves in my cervical spine burned the day before yesterday. The doctor said the pain relief should take effect in about 2 to 3 weeks. And that pain relief should last front between 6 months to a year. I just had the left side done and in two weeks I'll go back to do the right side of my cervical spine. I have herniated disc and pinched nerves. Another doctor did give me some exercises to do in which I do them and they seem to be a little bit helpful. Not much. I did Botox but it didn't help much because the pain is not coming from my muscles. It's coming from the cervical spine, the bones in my neck

š Yes I sure will let you know.
Please let me know how that goes for you
@Eowyn I had the cortisone injections and tomorrow morning I will be having radiofrequency ablation. @Eowyn did you have the pulsing in your head?

I had some lumbar nerve pinching/stenosis and disc issues (L4-S1) in the past, and I had a few rounds of cortisone injections for those - maybe this could help for you @kaypee? It helped relieve a ton of swelling for me and now Iām able to manage it a lot better. Hoping you can get some relief in some way! Glad the PT is helping a bit for the time being though!
My doctor gave me diazepam too
Hmmm. Okay then. My neck pain is from pinched nerves and herniated discs from c1-T1. I also have pulsatile tinnitus and I'm wondering if my neck issues could be causing it. I know the neck can cause lots of issues. Yes I've tried Botox and that didn't work for me. I did physical therapy and that helps just a tad for the moment.
Itās still in progress for me, but Iāve been getting some Botox injections to target the problem muscles in my neck and relax them. The person Iām going to is taking a conservative approach to make sure I get the optimal amount without overdoing it - Iāve had two sessions so far and it helps more each time. Iām scheduled for another one this week and Iām hoping for further relief from that. In the meantime my doctor has prescribed me some Diazepam to relax the muscles and that helps take the edge off. Iāve also been recommended some stretching exercises, but those honestly havenāt been helping, lol. If your neck pain is muscle related, Botox could be helpful for you - my doctor is actually the one who recommended it for me.
