When is it a good time to completely rely on your cgm? I’ve been using dexcom for a couple days now but still check my sugar via finger prick. Idk I feel like i’m not using this resource correctly ://

For the first couple weeks I would double check once a day to see if it matched my dex and now I just trust it, I barely poke anymore

As long as you don't calibrate often. I did the same for the first month or two on dexcom. You'll gain confidence in it! Trust the process 💕

I almost never prick now! I started using dex in January and pricked the first few days until I was comfortable with its accuracy. Now I really only prick if it asks me to or if I feels really off- which has maybe been once or twice! I think it’s probably more of just getting used to it and trusting it to help you feel like you can wean off finger pricks.

@Liney I hope to eventually get to that point! Mine is reading usually around 10 less or 10 higher than my finger stick, is that normal/accurate? :)

@kaoruseta are you using mg/dl or mmol? Because if you use mg/dl then being +/- 10 is perfectly normal! The cgm reads your interstitial fluid glucose, not blood glucose so it’s natural for it to differ some, especially if your bg is moving! If you’re using the mmol scale, I’d contact dexcom to see if they have tips to help with accuracy!
