@Rollergirl my doctor recommended against injectables (but realistically when i started imitrex, it was a 2 pack of injectables (major flusjong, burning, nausea...) thank goodness for tablets and the ability to take in lower dosages. I "LOVE" their commercial. Their statement is 90+% of CURRENT Botox users wish they talked to their doctors sooner. Seriously, of course CURRENT USERS would say that. People with bad reactions or no reaction, arent current users.

I take Imitrex(sumatriptan) for my migraines. It helped for a long time, but it doesn’t seem to work that well anymore. I’m going to try Botox for them… I’m wondering if anyone else has tried this and if it’s worked for them?? Thank you 🙏

Im lucky enough that Imitrex became available shortly after i started having migraines. Ive been in it for 30 years. My doctor is ok with me using it daily. It works on a hour. I more recently started taking it with excedrin (dxcedrin will knock out some of the pain and within 15 minutes. Plus EXCEDRIN helps with my POTS. Anyway, if you cant take that or it doesn't work for you, try another. Ive trued most of the triptans. Imitrex was still the best for me. Nowadays there are new migraine meds. Dont "cope". Find one that works for you. And yes, alternative treatments help too.

Tropiramate helps with migraines. Oddly enough I’ve found that drinking non carbonated celcius has helped with my migraines and other health problems too. Limiting bright lights and noises helps too. God has a plan! Prayers!

@zozo131 Sumatriptan with that will help too. You’ll only take Suma as needed. Just advice :) Prayers!

I had an 8 day migraine years ago before medication. I would just go to the er for a migraine cocktail whenever they were severe (quite often). But I was breastfeeding so I couldn’t take any medication. My dr recommended me to get my daith pierced or stop breast feeding and start medication. Day 8 I was ready to die I couldn’t take it anymore I told myself I’d get the piercing and it didn’t help if stop breastfeeding and start meds asap. The second the needle went through my ear it was gone. It helped so much I had it pierced for a little over a year. I still got headaches but not migraines it was more just like tension but not bad. But unfortunately mine never healed right so I took it out and started meds

I would definitely talk to your doctor ASAP and let them know the problems you're having. You would be surprised how few days it takes for migraines to be considered chronic. I don't know the exact number, but I know it's something like three or more headache days a month. So just because you think that they aren't bad enough, doesn't mean the doctor would. I'll put my mind to it, and if I can think of any more suggestions for when you have migraines, I will be happy to share them. Just trying to give the kind of help that I wish I'd gotten when I was going through all of those headaches, and didn't have anything to help with it.

I found remedial massage and acupuncture helped for a time, but sometimes codeine, panadeine forte, mersondyl forte or sumitriptan are necessary.

Tried it all and Nurtec saved me. I recommend trial of it from your Neurologist, mine was almost free from a program they have. I also used to do magnesium too.

@SquidFarmer I’m in the UK so idk how I would go about getting in touch with a neurologist/they would probably turn me away bcs they’re not severe enough

Please don't feel like you've got a compare yourself to other people. I learned to function with constant tension headaches and migraines, but I really didn't have a choice in the matter. I was into a situation where I could let my life shut down. That said, do you have anything to take for it? My neurologist gave me Maxalt for mine, and they usually seem to do a pretty good job on locking them out of commission for me. I've also found that mint essential oil done like aromatherapy can help less and headaches, especially with nausea. I believe peppermint's the best, but I have used any kind of mint and it's worked some. I really hope that helps. Just hold in there. You're a lot tougher than you think you are.

@verasama thank you so so much 🥹 aromatherapy doesn’t work with me unfortunately as it makes me feel even more nauseous but I’m going to talk to my doctor about going on some tablets because it’s ridiculous. It’s got to the point where it’s debilitating. Thank you so much for commenting 🥹
