I didn’t have my period for 2 years, but that worried my gynecologist so I reluctantly went back on birth control. Started with the Depo-Provera shot early September. I definitely did NOT like it’s emotional side effects—forced me to quit my job later that month. Started my period October 3rd. It lasted well over a month, so in November I started taking Lo Loestren. It is now December 21st, and I am STILL on my period. I am so unbelievably frustrated and in pain every single day. This is my 5th method of Birth control that I’ve tried and I’m so tired of it all. Every single one causes their own horrible side effects, and having a period in the first place really affects my gender dysphoria. I just wanna know if it’ll ever improve. Will I ever find a birth control that actually works? Or am I just gonna have to suffer until I can finally get a full hysterectomy?

I will add too that birth control is one of the leading causes of anxiety and depression in women and they aren’t talking about it. It destroys your gut bacteria which causes mood disorders and depletes your body of essential minerals and vitamins. It also increases your risk of developing breast cancer, cervical cancer and liver cancer. And depletes your antioxidants so it’s just a bad combination. It does not fix your hormones it shuts them down and replaces them with fake ones.

You need to find a doctor that will help you find the root cause!!! Birth control does not solve fertility issues!!!! It never has and never will work for that. You have an underlying issue that needs to be addressed, not covered up like a bandaid. There are so many resources for people coming off! If you’re concerned about actual pregnancy prevention check out Fertility Awareness Method! Based on science and based on your own body, not what some doctor thinks. Been going strong for 5 years and no babies yet. Find a doctor that will support your decision to not take birth control! It’ll be hard but so worth it. It’s never ever worth the side effects! Hang in there and don’t give up!!!!!!

hi this makes sense! many time due to pcos you are shedding all of the extra tissue so it makes periods last forever. but if you stay on a birth control regularly it can regulate it. i’m on junel fe and notice little to no side effects!

I can totally relate. When I was on BC I had serious mental health issues. I had to stop taking them. When I would get a period it would last 1-2 months. It’s scary and came with no symptoms.
