I’ve been out of school/work for a couple of months due to chronic issues, and it seems like people are forgetting about me. My two closest friends call every now and then…but often they overlook me as if I’m just a speck of dust floating in the air, not visible to the eye. The worst part is when they do pay attention I begin to mask “ or copy and paste” to keep their attention . Is masking an unhealthy habit ? Or is it what gives us direction ?

while masking can be ok sometimes, it can also lead to trauma and can make things feel worse. I'd say the best thing to do would be to explain the situation but i understand its not always possible, for whatever reasons you may have, all of which are valid. If you can't explain, i would say to find ways to take care of yourself, take part in things you enjoy, find other ways to interact with people if you feel up to it or dont want to feel invisible (server based freeroam games can be amazing for this!!) and do your best to be your completely authentic self whenever you can be.
