I have lots of questions, so feel free to jump on any that you choose! • When did you first develop tics? • When/How were you officially diagnosed with TS? • What is your favorite tic? least favorite? funniest? • Do other people in your family have tics/TS? • Have you tried [cognitive behavioral] therapy? If so, how did it go for you? Did it better, worsen, keep things the same? • Has TS prevented you from enrollment somewhere or getting a job? • How do you deal with ignorance towards TS? Also feel free to add whatever you feel would contribute to the conversation! I’m curious, as I have not spoken, more or less met in person, many people with Tourette’s Syndrome, or even anxiety tics, around my age.

My favorite tics include: “Hello, Mr. Bacon” “Your mom” And my “boop” tic. Usually involves me booping someone’s nose or something 😅

      1. I’ve had facial tics since I was very young, but when I was 15 I started an SSRI that made me have very frequent facial, body and vocal tics, they stayed even after I went off the SSRI 2. Went to a neurologist, got an MRI and an EEG, kept seeing my neurologist for a year until he diagnosed me 3. Favorite: don’t really have one. Least favorite: “Piss on me” Funniest: “He’s got a gun!” 4. My cousin has tics 6. Hasn’t prevented me, I’m on the education part to become a Veterinarian and I hope it isn’t a barrier. 7. I don’t deal with it well

i first developed tics when i was about 5-6, i was officially diagnosed December 2021, favorite tic is probably "beef", least favorite are the hitting tics, funniest is "I'm your dad", my niece has some sort of tic disorder, possibly also TS, i have not done CBIT, my TS has prevented me from getting jobs due to my coprolalia and copropraxia, and i deal with ignorance by education, if they don't listen to what i say then i just ignore them

I started noticeably ticcing when I was 17, but I think there was a few that I had when I was younger. I haven’t been officially diagnosed but my neurologist agrees that it’s probably Tourette’s. My least favorite tic is probably the hardest to explain it’s like continuously inhaling without actually intaking air and it hurts. My favorite one is probably knock knock but not the hitting that comes with it

I'm still in the process of getting an official TS diagnosis but I am medically recognized with a tic disorder. My tics have definitely prevented me from getting a job because I am so worried that masking and supressing will cause an attack and then everyone will look at me differently 😅 or worse. Right now I'm trying to get everything I need diagnosed so I can potentially settle on disability or an at-home small business.

My favorite tic is the echolalia tic I have that repeats things my two year old brother says 😂. My least favorite is the one that makes me hit/punch things (usually hard surfaces).

I have a novels worth of tics, but I find a couple of them endearing even though they can make for some embarrassing situations. Some of my vocal tics include mimicking a dripping water faucet, making popping sounds, and chirping things such as, “EGG!” And “Heehoo!” Every so often 😅

      1. I developed tics when I was in 8th grade, but I remember blinking really hard before in elementary. 2. I got an EEG to make sure everything was OK seizure-wise, then a neurologist asked me a lot of questions, then he diagnosed me with TS. 4. No, but they have things like OCD and other things that could relate to TS. 7. I teach people about it, and if they continue to be ignorant, I just leave the situation if I can.

We aren’t sure if I have Tourette’s or FND, but I started having a twitch in my eye when I was around 12. Then, at 17, I started developing more motor tics and then a vocal tic then another. I’m still 17 now.
