Recently realized I have tinnitus. I’m very upset.. I am a musician, singer and producer. My doctor doesn’t want me to be around loud noises… impossible for me to do. I also struggle with severe depression and anxiety. Not treated very well honestly. I’ve taken medications in the past and am currently on gabapentin and nothing has seemed to help from doctors… and come to find out all the other medications I’ve tried cause tinnitus… Prozac, Zoloft, lexapro. Any SSRI and also, ibuprofen does as well. Feel very unhopeful about my mental health lately and I feel so alone cause no one understands. I’m only 24.

I can understand, I am going through that too recently. Although I am still convinced that the culprit in my case was a viral infection, and probably the abuse of ibuprofen, I have just been told by an ENT that my anxiety might be an important contributing factor in that. Everyone blames anxiety for this… but I still believe there must be another cause as well..

@Ma91 I’m sorry that you’re going through this. :( you’re not alone. It can be hard when no one is fully listening to you..

@Mr._Dank exactly! And I can’t stop feeling guilty for having spent quite a large sum for being told there’s nothing to do but wait and relax… it’s so frustrating. May I ask you, does the medication for anxiety and depression not have an impact at all in distracting the brain from the sound?

I do better within brown noise music. I have reactive tinnitus so many times my ears are competing with loud sounds . I have musician ear plugs so I can attend social events . It’s a struggle because I can’t stay more than 2 to 3 hrs at certain events. But at least I am socializing . At times I feel Alone and lost . I am trying to accept the new me.

Look up Dr. Bruce Hubbard. He is a Psychologist who has tinnitus for 35 years he went back to writing and playing music. He has been a big help for me. Any drug has side effects. I was scared to try any but I am lexapro and Betahistine which has to. E made by a compound Pharmacy. I have reactive tinnitus so I need white noise I’m in competition with I do better with brown noise music

I also am a songwriter, and I have tinnitus, too! I love music. My doctor said there was nothing he could do about tinnitus besides white noise and said he had tinnitus too. I'm here, if you ever want to chat or talk about thngs.

@Mr._Dank yes I do. Although it's very rare. I feel like poetry has helped my songwriting tho.
