so I've been picking at my skin for as long as I can remember (at very least since 6th grade). I've tried so many fidget toys and my impulse control is horrible and I don't know what to do. (I can't do acrylic nails cuz im transmasc and that would make me feel icky)

I personally like Rubik's cubes, Ball of Whacks, fidget dodecagons, Tangles, and sensory brushes. I also found that wearing a thumb/wrist brace on my picking hand helps

my derm told me physical barriers are the best thing; try hydrocolloid acne patches. They’re satisfying because they get the zit gunk out, and they keep me from subconsciously picking. If it’s on your arms or legs, go with tight clothes. If leggings and tight tops cause dysphoria for you, they do make athletic tights for men that you could wear under other clothes. Keep your nails as short as possible if you don’t already. Short nails actually help me more than acrylics anyway

My therapist tried a bunch of strategies with me, not all worked, but here are some: gloves, tape over fingers, keep nails short, use timers when you pick to limit time, don't look at mirrors, ect.
