I am dealing with a major issue with my adhd. How do I prioritize school? I work and do school and for some reason I can’t get it in my head school comes first. I’m falling behind and it’s causing me so much anxiety. Help!

I am Autistic so I can only speak from that being your brain cousin over here but I use visual timers. I will set it and then put on a podcast or video to listen to while I work. I stop and move on to something else after it ends. I also make checklists and plan out what tasks I can do that day. If your having a low energy day, prioritize the things that absolutely have to get done today over things you want to get done. If your still living with a parent or guardian and you don't have to pay any or not alot of bills, consider cutting down your work hours. School is basically a full time job and it can be overwhelming to do both. I regret going into the work force while I was still in high school. I was not able to relax much trying to juggle both. If your fully supporting yourself financially you might need to reconsider your priorities as you need the job to cover your bills and necessities. If possible you might need to take less classes if your in college and maybe graduate later. I hope this helps you somewhat and good luck!

You will have good and bad days (it’s inevitable) but be gentle and forgiving of yourself so you won’t be set back and keep going

Make a list or a number system or color system or whatever you prefer of what’s most important first and be smart about which teachers are most accepting of late work or offer assignment extensions and how many points are taken off remember 80% is enough so do what most urgent first and then The assignments that won’t hurt your grade as much when late

Going to the library and having a designated place or area in the house makes it easier for you to get your work done

Ask for accommodations and assignment extensions from your teachers maybe you could get a 504

I also have ADHD and am working and going to therapy and trying to go to school and also seek GAHT and it’s been so much. I do not have any solutions as it is probably been the hardest month for me in a very long time. What I do have to say is, I am putting myself and my mental health and my physical health first before school. I think that is personally more important than school work.
