I was going to the gym and eat pretty well, not binging, for almost a year. I moved back to my home state recently and now I've fallen back into the binging habit. And my other chronic illnesses are keeping me out of the gym. I can't stop beating myself up about it all. I'm really struggling.

I don’t think this is anything to beat yourself up for… bingeing can be a physical manifestation of a deeper emotional struggle. Has being back in your home state brought up past painful stuff?

Do not see your current situation as a failure. You brought yourself out of the ED hole once and you can do it again, and this time you know what to expect. You should be proud of yourself for doing something so many people with EDs can’t even fathom. I’m sorry you’re also having to deal with chronic illnesses in top of your ED. I know it’s incredibly hard to have self control, but it is so important that you try to recognize when you’re feeling triggered or wanting to binge, and actively choose to not give in to the binge monster, and process your feelings instead. Being able to process negative emotions and stress, and realizing that you will feel much better about yourself and your situation after the feelings have passed without binging will help you stop the cycle of trigger -> binge -> regret. Also recognizing when your brain gives you a negative thought, and offering it a more positive thought, is helpful in changing the way you feel about yourself, and the way you think in general. I hope this was at least a little helpful or offered a different perspective. Stay strong, and fight back. You deserve to feel happy with yourself and your life. I’m always here to talk if you need to.
