I feel utterly hopeless rn. I have so many missing assignments piled up and I just cannot seem to finish anything. Does anyone know what I can do to get these assignments done?

I would say reward yourself after each one, or take it apart and do bit by bit! although it wasn't constructive in the slightest, I used to put all my assignments up in tabs, and go between them so when I got bored of one assignment I could move to the next and chip away at all of them slowly!

I’d definitely say just take it one thing at a time and if it gets to a point where it’s so late you know you’re just not going to be able to get anything done, then tell yourself it’s okay to stop & get the rest you need & just know that you tried!! <3 I was/still am in the same boat rn so yea! Go us for even attempting something!! Just know your limits & go watch someone on YouTube you enjoy after those long nights of struggling to get started, I promise they make you feel better take care!!

before i graduated, i actually had a 504 plan that allowed me to have extra days to work on assignments. maybe you can talk to a trusted counselor to help you achieve that? one of my teachers helped me out and told me to work on an assignment for 30-40 mins, give myself a 10-15 min stretch/snack/water break, and then get back to the assignment, repeat as many times as necessary! i hope this helps in some way. try not to be hard on yourself, you can do it!

^ agreed ! also forgot to mention that with an ADHD diagnosis, you could probably talk to the school/teacher to see if they can make accommodations for you if you have not already.

Sometimes it helps to separate work up into different checkpoints and days. So if I have 14 assignments I will do my best to complete 2 assignments each day. communicating with a teacher can also help too, it can be just a simple explanation such as “I’m sorry, I’m just struggling with motivation right now.” or you can try and create a separate learning plan with them. Your health should come before your education.

i would say take intermediate breaks /checkpoints - as in maybe work on the assignment for 30+ mins, then take a 10-15 minute break, and then get back to the assignment again. you could also maybe set up a reward system so like once you hit a checkpoint, you reward yourself with a snack or something. hope this helps! :)

if you have a teacher or counselor you trust, maybe email them for help? i have a few teachers who will stay after school and help me with assignments in classes that aren’t even theirs. or even if possible, find some way to get some done during lunch/break hours!
