marching band practice starts back up for another week tomorrow and I really need help controlling my anxiety and keeping my body relaxed instead of tense. I have no dancing experience, so marching is really hard for me.

As a marching band tech. It's just all about changing small things to make yourself better. Just focus on what your doing and focus and doing it as best as you can. They will see that. I'm here to talk if you want.

You listen to the best that the drums play essentially. If you want more answers, I was a flute/Piccolo player most of Jr high and high school. I know what it's like to struggle.

My band camp got canceled on the 2nd week lol but what I did was to try and stay focus on my music and see if I need to edit any mistakes. And when ur outside, just know that everybody's in their own world and are nervous themselves, with that being said, keep ur head in the game and know that they're most likely not looking at you so stay calm and breathe. Oo also focus on your breath.

I have tried marching band so I understand how stressful it can be. I would focus 100% on what's next and my music so I wouldn't look at people. Make sure to reward yourself afterwards. Remember to skip, you never see an upset person skipping! If you don't want to skip you can power walk and imagine you are in a music video!

As someone who has done theater for a long time, the marching will come with practice. My suggestion, find a place you can practice where no one can watch so you don't get nervous. Then play either the song you will be marching to or a pendulum (they probably have an app for it) and just practice touching your foot to the ground with each beat.
