I have severe anxiety (GAD & Social), severe depression, and PTSD. My roommate who happens to be a family member of mine, doesn’t understand mental illness. I understand that she doesn’t, but I thought she was starting to a little bit. Today we were talking about some stuff and I mentioned how younger people should be making laws and running the country and she said that “people who say they can’t do anything because of their anxiety and need a pill to feel better, will ruin the country.” I tried to explain why anxiety is worse nowadays, but she didn’t listen. Am I wrong to feel like this was somehow targeted at me? I am really struggling right now and she doesn’t know that, because she doesn’t care to know. She doesn’t ask how I’m doing, even though we talk about random stuff a lot. She’s even called it “pathetic” to not want to live a long time. She’s not someone I want to fight with, so I try my best to shut my mouth even when I’m offended by her…
