How do I get back in control of my emotions? For the past few months I’ve been in a low (depressive episode) because of my bipolar disorder. I can’t stop crying. I cry everyday. I just got diagnosed like two years ago so I’m still not really sure how to handle it. Any help would be appreciated.

Legit was in a similar state from half of 2020 and the first few months of 2021. The only thing that helped was going to a mental hospital. They put me on duloxetine which my outpatient psychiatrist determined is supposed to be an emergency drug. It gave me time to find a job and my psychiatrist to find a better medication for me. I was suicidal and if I hadn't messaged my psychiatrist I would probably have gone back to my apartment and ended it. So my opinion is: better to go in early rather than getting to the point where you are planning

To start, are you on any meds? Which ones? (I know a tad about some bipolar and depression meds and how they can be adjusted that may help, depending on what you’re on!) Also, are you in therapy? Digging deep and also just saying how you feel out loud can help in the long run. Do you have any hobbies that can distract you? Even ones you don’t have to leave the house for. Its hard to get motivated to even do them but I’ve found that once I start to, it’s a bit easier to keep going. Walks have helped me a bit as well. I’m still not “well” or “stable” but I’ve come a long way, 11 years in!
