Does anybody else who smokes weed and takes cymbalta get hallucinations? It’s not laced I promise. All my friends keep telling me that it’s not normal and that I should stop.

I don’t get hallucinations but I do have extremely vivid and insane dreams that the next day feel as though they actually happened and like memories… but thats it, I’m not sure if the weed would do that or the combination or just the cymbalta? everyone’s mind works differently maybe you just react differently to it!

I stand by my point. The job of all antidepressants is to balance your brain chemistry and the hormones it produces or uptakes. Too little or too much of any particular hormone changes how your brain functions. Cannabis also directly affects brain function. Both factors, whether as a pair or separately, could tip the brain off balance and cause hallucinations

I've had hallucinations before when taking an SSRI (sertraline). I just recently talked to a psychiatrist about that incident, SSRI-class drugs increase serotonin levels in the brain, which is good if you have low serotonin levels, but if your serotonin levels are already normal or elevated, then on the medication, there is too much serotonin and that excess can have side effects, like hallucinations. Different SSRIs target different chemical inhibitors, so not every medication will have the same effect, I've been tried on half a dozen SSRIs and only experienced hallucinations on the one. So, it is possible that cymbalta or the dose you're taking of it isn't right for you, or that the added effects of cannabis are unbalancing the chemicals in your brain. I agree, though, that hallucinations are not, quote on quote, "normal."

@JackieSparrow Duloxetine is an SNRI though, it behaves differently
