What have you found has helped you with your mania? I struggle with this the most.

That!! It's like, a lot of the advice I get when I talk about mania is just to be more controlled, get into a routine, and it's like I CANT. I have zero impulse control! Medications have to stay hidden so I don't just try to yeet out of life at the slightest inconvenience, I have to hide my credit card, my car keys etc. I avoid people when I'm manic too because I know I'm overwhelming but also I'm afraid of what stupidity will come out of my mouth. Also when I'm manic I experience psychosis nearly anytime I drive so I have to limit how much I go out bc it's honestly really dangerous. Does anyone else also get massive brain fog and get super disorganized and disoriented? Like you lose track of thoughts faster than they enter your brain?

I am very affected by the sessions, too! I know I sounded like I had it all together in my previous comment, but I really don't. It's like we lack an "Off" switch...
Mindfulness, meditation, staying away from caffeine when I start to feel this way way, talking to my psychiatrist and therapist, and talking with my wife who takes away some of my funds. I use cash only during these times. I also have to check in with her to state what I have spent. I am on SSDI so I am able to talk to her alot. Also the cat keys are put up as well as knives and I have my medication administered by my wife. Ughhhh but completely necessary. Also the weather brings it on...spring and summer.

Thank you ❤️
I have a really hard time controlling it too. sometimes I go for a run and it works to get my energy out but other times it is bad bc I wear shorts in the snow or talk to all the strangers and things like that
Medication (Depakote generic) is the only thing that helps me. I've been on that plus an antidepressant (has varied) and an anti-anxiety med (Buspar generic) for several years, but we've had to tweak it a few times. My depression is so bad, I need something to take with the Depakote. I'm not very good at controlling my mania myself. However, I started intermittent fasting for health reasons, and I have learned some self-control from that. Hope this wasn't just me rambling for no reason. Haha
