Anyone else struggle with focusing on important tasks and figuring how to go about completing them in a way that makes sense for you without distractions? I’m considering looking for a therapist that specializes in ADHD because of how hard this is for me! I try looking it up, starting with the smallest or largest task and keep running into same issue - getting completely wrapped in another task that is not the most time sensitive (especially at work). I started Adderall for this reason but it tends to actually make my rabbit holes worse - like since I’m more focused on it, it’s harder to get re-focused on what I need to be focusing on. Anyone else? Tips, tricks? If anyone also knows of any good ADHD communities to learn from each other.. I’m all ears!

My worst enemy is my phone. I am ADHD, what's helped me is putting it far away from me or turning it off or both. Post-it notes can help, even for the simplest things. I write notes on my hand to remind myself what I need to do.

I have this issue where I can't get anything done unless I'm bouncing around my house from task to task with no organization or breaks, it's exhausting. I don't function on Adderall as it makes my disassociation a lot worse and I have yet to find any other medication that helps more than it's side effects hurt. I've managed to get better at the start and stop part of tasks by over focusing on a specific time or leisure task and making plans to continue important tasks or chores as soon as I reach that marker. It isn't as reliable as I'd hope but im getting better at it with the help of alarms and my partner, it's been suggested to me that I try occupational therapy specifically so maybe that would be helpful for you, but I'm still looking for a therapist so in the mean time this seems to be my most effective option.

I've worked well on Adderall
How long have you been on the meds & are they extended release? Your dose could also be too high. They take time to get into your system. About a month in my experience. If it’s been a while then don’t be afraid to switch meds. I like Concerta XR. It has helped me a lot with this.
