I need advice on how I can get Adderall without coming off like all I want is drugs. I struggle with quite a few mental illness and I take a few meds to help manage them but my ADHD has been left untreated for a long time and I've done a lot of research and I know Adderall will help me. I have no intention of abusing it but I've found it hard to get controlled substances. My inability to focus is affecting every aspect of my life.

In my experience at least, my prescriber wanted me to trail different stimulants to see what works, see if you can ask whoever prescribes for you about trailing them

have you been diagnosed? go to a doctor, explain your symptoms and how they affect your quality of life, and don't mention that you want adderall. if the doctor doesn't believe you have adhd, they won't give you meds, especially if you ask for them. if they do, they will probably start with adderall before anything else. that said, adderall could end up not being the right medicine for you anyway. everyone is different, and others' reactions will not be the same as yours. so don't get discouraged if it doesn't work! and if your doctor won't give you meds, but you still really feel like you need them, try to get a second opinion or get a full evaluation done if you haven't.

Idk if this will help, but maybe if you tried placebos (sugar pills) to trick your brain, see if that will help

It may be more effective to ask for a non-specific medicine to help with your symptoms. There are a lot of different stimulant meds designed to work like adderall, but with different pros and cons. If you have a diagnosis then I would go to your GP and ask about a stimulant med for your ADHD only after explaining how your symptoms are causing you problems. If you don't have a diagnosis then it will probably be better to seek that out first.

I suggest going to your doctor and try getting prescribed there. It's better to have a professional diagnosis from a doctor that you generally know and that you go to when needed. it can be difficult to get a hold of things like Adderall because of the way that people use it if they don't actually have a condition that needs it. but if you want to go anywhere start with your doctor

@wandering.soul it's a lot harder to get diagnosed with ADHD these days, especially as an adult. it's very expensive, and takes a lot time. the cheapest and fastest route is to use an online service. you can even get your diagnosis, and then take it directly to your GP.

I'd recommend looking into an online ADHD diagnosis service. They became pretty popular after Covid started. That's how I got my diagnosis.
