Do you feel like you should have been better years ago?

I've had my brain injury since I was 11 months old so I really dont have any reference as to what I was like before. I do sometimes wish it didnt happen but its who i am and I've accepted it over the years

When I initially had mine as a child I was told it would shorten my lifespan and only get worse, I feel fortunate they've not been right about a decent percentage of that.

YES 110% but whenever I get to a good, steady point my mindset & brain constantly seen to screw with me which really sucks.

100% it feels like everytime I heal a little bit I have another set back. Find comfort in how little we know about brains and what healing looks like with brain injuries- I have played out the worst case scenario so many times in my mind- and it’s weird but for my it comforts me- I have dealt with head trauma literally my whole life (thanks mom for putting me on a bouncer on a counter haha 😂) if I never get better than the best I have gotten, what are the things I still have? Who are the people still there for me? Chances are your brain will get better. Painfully slowly but in due time it will. In months with the right motivation and boundaries you will find yourself able to do things you couldn’t do today. And not every day is going to be good- bad days happen too but you can’t let that twist into the belief it has gotten worse again and that you are stuck. Finally- allow yourself to mourn the life you have missed because of your brain injury- even though you are still alive chances are your brain injury has stopped you from doing things you wanted and still want to do- grieving these things is impactful because you are acknowledging your life and the big moments you miss, but find the good small moments too- even as simple as looking at flowers for all they are and all they are not. Think of how they are so small yet living things- things that we are able to see purely for our own enjoyment ♥️♥️

Yes all the time. But slowly but surely it's gotten better. Just a lot slower than what I had thought.

Yes but you just have to settle into your new normal
