I’m having a diagnostic laparoscopy done to see if I have endometriosis, and if I do, they will use ablation to get rid of it. I’m wondering what things I can do to prepare for the surgery, as well as things I can do which will help me afterwards during the recovery process. I’ve never had a surgery before so I am really scared. 1. What should I buy to prepare for my laparoscopy? (Heat pads, foods, OTC medicines?) 2. What can I do after my surgery to release the gas in my body? 3. Other tips for post surgery 4. How long was it until you were able to take a bath? 5. How long was it until you were able to return to work (desk job)? 6. Did you go on a birth control form after the surgery to prevent endo from coming back?

Hi, first I want to reassure you :) I had laparoscopic surgery a few years ago and since then my life has changed for the better! The pain was significantly reduced and immediately afterwards I was able to get pregnant. If you are stressed, you may want to do a process with a therapist and talk about the concerns, in addition you can take medications (also natural) for calming. Good luck!!

      1. Heating pad, lots of pillows to prop you up cuz you can't lay flat without pain, soup seltzer water 2. buy gasx fast acting pills, Pedialyte jello watermelon (helped release gas) 3. Walk as much as you can go out walk the block @least twice a day helps release gas and helps with pain 4. Can't take baths till your cleared by your doctor after post op appointment 5. About a week especially for a desk job 6. Yes but i don't like the birth control i was put on (it's not helping in my case) so I'm going to another obgyn soon because mine isn't listening Best of luck and message me if you need anything
