I understand healing your inner child but a part of me still feels regret/ shame bc I feel like it’s still not the same as when your actually a kid and that’s something I’ll never get back or can change.

I totally get this. But just remember that your inner child is still something you can attend to now. In even simple ways. I took a big step and took myself to the Aquarium when I first moved here. I admit I started crying because I really had to pee and couldn't find a bathroom. But I still had fun and the whole time I clutched a stuffed animal and talked to the fish like a little kid would. I felt well. Oddly in-between peace and anxiety. I thought it was definitely healing to go somewhere as an adult that I loved as a kid.
