I’m always in so much pain that I spend most of my days in bed. I don’t want to but we live in a two story home and the stairs are my worst enemy. I use the spoon theory and if I have 10 spoons daily then getting up, getting ready and dressed and then going down the stairs takes 6 spoons already, so I have basically 1 spoon to use when I’m downstairs in order to have enough to go back up and get undressed and back in bed. I don’t see a point. I’m severely depressed and I have high anxiety so I basically just stay in bed, I do everything from there. I can’t wait till the day that we can finally move to a single story home. Can anyone relate at all?

Just start with small goals such as just brushing your hair. For strength you can do exercises in bed. You can search YouTube for bed exercises

I know what you are going thru. Pain, especially daily pain, is so exhausting and causes so much frustration, and yes, anger. I’m angry that I cannot live my life without pain. I pray, and I’m sure you do, too, but some days I just feel helpless. I hope your PT will be what you need ❤️

Sweetie_Lamb unfortunately sleeping downstairs isn’t an option. I do plan on going to physical therapy to learn some exercises, mostly because my right shoulder has been hurting since I fell over my walker at the mall last Aug and it’s been getting worse and worse, the insurance company won’t cover an MRI until I’ve tried PT. The pain there is miserable, I can hardly sleep because of it. 😩😭

Yes I can relate. I still have days I stay in bed. I still do what stretches and ROM that I can handle and seldom allow myself to stay in bed for more than 3 days in a row to keep my muscles working. I read the spoon poem and it helped. Some days, like today I feel like all my spoons were gone just from getting out of bed and still fighting sleep 😴.

I can relate. I'm sorry you are going through this. It sucks I know. I was in a Similar situation. What I did was start small. Build up to what you need to do.

I also really hate stairs, I prefer single story living from the standpoint of struggling with pain everyday. There are going to be days when you can't do everything or anything but just keep trying. 🙏
