Dealing with Anger and Anxiety Around Family

I don’t know why but I was angry again around my Mom, for no reason. I just don’t want to be around her and I feel like I have to deep breathe in order to keep my composure. She hasn’t even done anything wrong and I still feel angry. Is it because of my anxiety? I’ve heard that anger can come from anxiety, but what am I anxious about? I don’t know. But it’s been happening multiple times over the span of 2 months every once and a while. Is this normal?

I get like this sometimes to. Everyone irritates me and I find myself snapping at my kids. Then I feel like crap because I was yelling at my kids. With my anxiety I get really angry/annoyed sometimes. The only thing that really helps me is to just go to my room and have some time to myself or take a hot bath and try to relax.

Anger is a secondary emotion that can be caused by a variety of different primary emotions, anxiety included. And if you have an anxiety disorder, sometimes you're just anxious, in body, mind, or both, and there's no real reason for it. Taking space to cool down and baths to cool your anger are both really good coping skills. I'd also look into TIP skills to help calm strong emotions by changing your body chemistry. Try looking up some DBT emotion regulation or distress tolerance skills, too. Those are things that have helped me when my anger bubbles over
