Bad Reaction to Massage: Anyone Else?

Has anyone had a really bad reaction to a massage before? I’m not sure if it was a migraine or another one of my conditions but I thought I would see if anyone with migraines has had a similar bad reaction to a massage. Mine was bad nausea, headache, flushing, sweating and feeling hot. I felt like I was going to pass out and throw up and Ineeded to rest.

that’s actually completely normal! Massages work on clearing the lymphatic system of all the toxins in your body. this can make you feel super woozy as your body wants to dispel the toxins in any way possible (throwing up, urinating, sweating, etc) and it’s best to prepare for them by drinking a ton of water so that your body can dispel them quickly

unfortunately this leaves you feel pretty gross but you should recover just fine in a day or two. maybe prepare some green tea to restore antioxidants and epsom salt baths to sooth the sore muscles. i love getting massages to help with my chronic pain, this is just the downside to them but it really is just a part of the process. nothing to worry about

It didn’t give me a migraine but I get extremely sick and nauseous. The massage therapist said that it releases a build up of lactic acid from your muscles and it can make you feel unwell.

Was the massage triggering anything? Emotionally. Because those can also be panic symptoms
